Takes me back to Skate World, ca 1981. Those were good times.

1981 ruled, man!

Billy Squire had to be one of the worst artists of the 80s. His lyrics sucked and his dancing was far worse. Fans of "Stroke Man" from those times must be really ashamed of their past.

Yo, 1836-- You obviously weren't at Skate World with me back then.
Might be time to lighten up a bit. No shame here.

No. I was at SkateLAND. Nice site. Maria Taylor has a great sound and thanks for mentioning her.

thanks man. that Maria Taylor is good. So is the new Laura Veirs. Not sure if I've posted about that or not.
So what did they play at Skate Land?

Embarassed to say. When I heard a Ronny Millsap song "earn" a rebel yell when the dj first played it, I was done with the place. They played some normal 80s pop music and Billy Squire certainly got his share of play. J Geils, Pat Benatar, Police, Greg Kihn, et al were frequently played. By the time I was a teenager, I never darkened the door of the place again. My fav band of all time, Clash, were played at Skateland(Rock the Casbah, the only "mainstream" American hit. London Calling is indeed, particularly for history buffs like me, the best album I've ever heard. Who sings about the Spanish Civil War, Montgomery Clift, or a card cheat thru the centuries of armies during the familiar lulls? Don't forget to post Laura Veirs!
